Up-coming clay shoots in Cork

All members are encouraged to attend the following clay shoots. The shoots are being run by neighbouring clubs in Cork and offer a great chance to keep in practice after the season. And they are also a great chance to get out and shoot if you couldn’t get out enough after the pheasants…

  • 11th of March     Belgooly quarry
  • 25th of march.    Ballindenisk House
  • 8th of April.          Bandon
  • 22nd of April.      Dunmanway

There will be a few of us going to each shoot and the more the merrier – some make the effort to get out.

Each shoot will follow the same format as the qualifier we hosted recently in Carrigtwohill (thanks Val!).

  •  50 bird shoot for the selection of the Co. Cork team €20
  • 50 bird Open €20
  • 10 bird novelty stand €5

This will be a 50 bird competition (5 stands, 10 birds each)

  • County Qualifier €20
  • Open competition €20
  • Novellty stand €5

The day will consist of the County Qualifier 50 bird shoot, an Open 50 bird shoot and a novelty stand.

Prizes for the open are

  2. €30 and a bottle
  3. €20 and a bottle

Prize for the novelty stand – bottle of whiskey.

For our own members there is also a Cup to play for – top 3 club guns on the day will take away tropies.

Closing Day report 31st Jan 2018

by Willie Hourihan (Asst. Sec)

Again the closing day social was held in the newly refurbished Roaring Donkey Bar Cobh and a big thank you to Killian, JoAnne, Holly and barman Owen.

The night was well attended with a great turn out not only of members but  people from other clubs and people associated with the local field sports in the area, a warm welcome to all those.

Tom Houlihan of TH Sports was in attendance and all were delighted to see him and to see that he was in good form and enjoyed the night.

The food was as usual the highlight of the night and a big thank you to Martin Drake for providing the venison sausage, burger and steak.

Entertainment was provided by the pub patrons who have a trad night every Wed night.

The Longest Bird, Heaviest Bird and mixed bag were as usual well contested with 7 contesting the longest 5 the heaviest and 3 the mixed bag. Results are as follows.
