Up-coming clay shoots in Cork

All members are encouraged to attend the following clay shoots. The shoots are being run by neighbouring clubs in Cork and offer a great chance to keep in practice after the season. And they are also a great chance to get out and shoot if you couldn’t get out enough after the pheasants…

  • 11th of March     Belgooly quarry
  • 25th of march.    Ballindenisk House
  • 8th of April.          Bandon
  • 22nd of April.      Dunmanway

There will be a few of us going to each shoot and the more the merrier – some make the effort to get out.

Each shoot will follow the same format as the qualifier we hosted recently in Carrigtwohill (thanks Val!).

  •  50 bird shoot for the selection of the Co. Cork team €20
  • 50 bird Open €20
  • 10 bird novelty stand €5

Charity Clay Shoot update

The East Cork Gun club held a Charity Clay Shoot in aid of the National Liver Transplant Unit in St Vincent’s Hospital on 22 October at Belvelly, Cobh. It was a standard 50 bird sporting clay shoot with a have a go stand for non shooters. There was also a cakes, coffees and hot food stand.

Early photo from the morning before it got really busy. About 30 cars of people already in at this stage!

The day started breezy and bright and it stayed dry for the entire event. This certainly helped with the crowds and it proved a very busy day.

The have a go stand was popular with everyone

There were over 120 rounds of clays shot and loads of people had a go at the novelty stand. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the day and to all the sponsors who made it possible, the men who set out the course, the ladies who provided the cakes, coffees, soups and sandwiches and the members who manned the traps and cleaned up after.

Looking forward to the presentation of the proceeds to the National Liver Transplant Unit on November 1st at the Roaring Donkey in Cobh. In the end over €5,000 was raised and the Club will be making out a cheque for a very impressive €5,300!
